Afflictions are the pain of Time. Worldly things are cause of sorrows. Worldly desires are the cause of sorrows. There are worldly desires in the Worldly things. There are afflictions in the Worldly desires and There are afflictions in the Worldly things. Humans do search the mortal happiness in the Mortal worldly things. There are no real happiness in the Mortal things because Death destroys the Mortal things, It is the cause of Sorrows.
