From Slavery to Sonship: Claiming Our True Inheritance
A slave seeks only one thing—freedom. His vision is limited to escape from bondage and the hope of release. But a son does not live with such narrow expectations. A son knows that he has a place in his father’s house, a share in his father’s inheritance, and a secure identity that no one can take away.
This difference explains the gap between those who merely desire religion and those who truly walk in relationship with God. Many approach God only as slaves, seeking freedom from guilt, freedom from fear, or freedom from sin. They hope for relief but stop short of claiming their full inheritance.
The Gospel teaches us that God is not only a Master but a Father. And those who receive Him as Father are not merely freed servants—they are children of God. Children do not beg for permission to belong; they inherit by birthright.
Our inheritance in Christ is greater than freedom from sin. It is the gift of a new spiritual identity:
Freedom from bondage – No longer slaves to sin or fear.
Adoption into God’s family – We belong to Him as beloved sons and daughters.
Participation in destiny – Eternal life and the promise of sharing in Christ’s glory.
Slaves live by fear, but sons live by love. Slaves work for wages, but sons walk in inheritance. Slaves measure life by survival, but sons live with purpose and destiny.
True Christian faith is not just about escaping judgment; it is about receiving sonship. Only those who know God as Father claim the fullness of their inheritance—identity, fellowship, and eternal destiny in Him.
